Has the best family out there. Engaged [without a projected marriage date]. Senior English major @ UCLA. Sobriety date: September 10th, 2005 (meth and everything else). Fleeting sanity…
[Passions: rainy days, books, traveling, deep-sea fishing off the Sea of Cortez, trout fishing, horseback riding...]
i did a stint at UCLA too. have amazingly fond memories of the campus (and those days). the big squares at the center of campus give me the shivers just thinking about them. all of a sudden, I WANT THOSE DAYS BACK! (please enjoy UCLA for me, a little). good luck to you, and thanks for commenting on my blog.
UCLA is wonderful and I know that the experience, no matter how long I prolong it, is temporary. I only wish I felt more in touch with it all.
It was my pleasure to leave the comment and good luck to you as well.
why don’t you feel in touch “with it all?” i guess the answer lies in your blog, hey? :-)
Timeline:
-1 year of college finished by the time I graduated high school [took college courses at night...]
-1 year off doing drugs and trying to loose myself in the world
-(sobriety)1 year back in community college trying to prove to everyone [MYSELF] that I had it in me.[4.0 UCLA acceptance]
-entered UCLA as a transfer. Plus I commute, work, and have someone to come home to – so I am only on campus going to and from class. I have made efforts to do my studying there however…I am always chased by this feeling out-of-the-loop a bit. Come to think of it, I often feel the same way at work and at home …
We have some things in common, starting with the last name.
At least you’re in California.
We have quite a bit in common actually…
California, on the other hand, has it pluses and minuses. To tell the truth I pray (okay I don’t really ‘pray’ but rather hope strongly for) rain on a daily basis. Right now, when the hills are green, nothing beats it – but the other 99% of the year…
It is nice to meet to you Ned, thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the comment! Kudos to your sobriety and your subsequent engagement and academic success. I have had friends who were not so strong. This life counts and it will be whatever you choose to make of it. You and I seem cut from the same cloth — you take the west coast, I’ll take the east coast, and the world will be a better place. :)
Thank you for your comment. It’s like my Mom always says… “You can do anything you put your mind to”.
nice work on the sobriety. I wonder if sometimes it would be better to have what you had or continue to have what I have.
hindsightreflection: Thanks for leaving the comment but apparently I am a bit slow today.
Please clarify ‘what I had’ and ‘what you have’..
